Equine Development

We offer a limited number of spots each year for remedial and development programs for horses, ponies, donkey and mules of any age, breed or discipline at our farm just outside of Rimbey, Alberta.

We try to make it as fair as we can for everyone to get their horses help.

Due to the nature of a horse-led program we can not fairly offer bookings for specific dates or time frames. To apply, you can fill out the following form. When a horse goes home, the empty spot is filled from the list starting at the top. If you are contacted about an opening you may choose to take the spot or defer for a later one. You may defer up to 3 times, after which you will be bumped to the bottom of the list. Once your horse is in a program, the spot is theirs as long as they need it.

We are located just outside of Rimbey, Alberta. You are welcome to come watch some sessions to decide if this is going to be the right program for you and your horse.

A $200 deposit is required to get on the list, this deposit is then applied to your horse’s initial training fees.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Horses must be up to date on vaccinations and deworming to be in training. If this is not possible, we are able quarantine them until they can be vaccinated/dewormed and are confirmed in good health. They may need to be quarantined during this time.

Horses must also be sound, if they have a non-painful lameness they will be accepted with a letter from a veterinarian confirming they are able to work. Horses who arrive deemed to thin to work will be placed on board only and put on a supplemental feed program at the owners expense until they are deemed healthy enough to work.

To help save time, it is also recommended that your horse be up to date on hoof trimming and dental work.

  • Absolutely! We believe every horse deserves a chance.

  • This is not a question that can be answered until your horse has been evaluated. We put your horse's physical and mental welfare above all else, which means we progress according to your horses individua needs/ability. We will generally know within the first week or two how much work your horse will likely require to get him where you want and we can discuss then whether it fits within your time and/or financial constraints.

  • If your horse normally wears blankets, you may send them but we ask that you label them clearly. If you horse normally receives any supplements or medications, we ask that you please label them and have them pre-portioned out.

  • YES! We encourage owners to come watch as much as they can. We also require that you work with your horse with guidance from Becki before taking it home so we can be sure everyone is on the same page and ready for success.

  • “It’s not easy to find a trainer who has a genuinely broad range of skills AND is prepared to vary her approach totally if that’s what the horse needs, but that’s exactly what you get at Bold Equine. I like Becki’s approach to both horses and to people.”

    - Jackie

  • “I have sent 2 young horses to Bold Equine... both needing help with some confidence building. I was very happy with the results they got with both horses. I also love how easy Becki is to deal with... super fair, great communication and excellent care of the horses”

    - Danielle

  • “We have so appreciated all of the time and effort Becki took to include both myself and my children in Sam’s training, and would recommend Bold to anyone who is serious about healthy horse training. There were no quick-fixes advertised or encouraged, only solutions and advise for lasting success. We will absolutely be returning to Bold with future horses if the need arises.”

    - Tanis

  • “Becki did an amazing job with our two mares. After a month at Bold Equine they are safe to ride and comfortable learning something new. We are teaching them how to pack and they are calm and willing to try this because of what she taught them!”

    - Mary Jean
